چکیده

Organic peach production systems in Florida are an attractive option for farmers selling direct-to-consumer, including U-Pick operations. Profitability is contingent upon appropriate cultivar selection, efficient nutrient and water management, preventative pest fruit a price premium during the early market window. This comprehensive 14-page fact sheet includes evidence- producer-based best practice recommendations designed small- mid-size farm operators who certified organic or desire to use practices. Organic fertilization leads to increased peach root production and lifespan.

We evaluated the effects of mineral and organic fertilizers on peach root dynamics in the growing season from 2003 to 2006 in a nectarine (Prunus persica L.) orchard, planted in 2001 and located in the Po valley, northeastern Italy. Very few studies have conducted long-term investigations of root dynamics of fruit crops. Our main objective was to determine whether organic fertilizers affect roo...

Spectroscopic models of soil organic carbon in Florida, USA.

Soil organic carbon (SOC) is an indicator of ecosystem quality and plays a major role in the biogeochemical cycles of major nutrients and water. Shortcomings exist to estimate SOC across large regions using rapid and cheap soil sensing approaches. Our objective was to estimate SOC in 7120 mineral and organic soil horizons in Florida using visible/near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (...
